Teaching Philosophy - Learning For All
A learning environment that is for all students and a place where students want to be, would:
- Have open and honest communication. Creating a relationship and getting to know each student and their needs in the classroom and outside would aid in creating this communication.
- Include activities for all learner styles. By having areas or activities that meet the needs of the different learning styles of the students in the classroom the students are better able to learn in the classroom.
- Be positive, creative and inclusive. When a classroom is positive for the students it is more likely that they themselves will have a positive outlook on their schooling. If a classroom encourages creativeness the more comfortable students will be to share their work and their ideas. And, an inclusive room would be one that would recognize each student’s as an individual and would bring pieces of their culture and lives into the room.
- Be a space that was supportive of the students. The more support there is for a students, whether that is from you as the teacher or from somewhere else, the more the students will be willing to learn. This support cannot come from you alone, the guardians and community of the students need to be a part of the support for the students because they are the ones interacting with the students when you are not there.
- Be a space that encourages independent thinking. When independent thinking is encouraged the students will be more willing to share their ideas with the rest of the students.
- Encourage learning and show that learning can be fun. The more that students are able to interact with what they are learning and see that these activities can be fun and engaging the more you are going to see students want to be a part of the activities that you are doing.

Classroom Rules and School Mission Statement
With in our classroom and our school there is a mission statement that says.
At MCCS we wish to belong to a school that makes us feel welcome, no matter our individual differences. To make this happen we agree to:
- be respectful and considerate to others, ourselves and the environment
- be the best we can be
- give everyone a chance to fix mistakes
- try to work it out and ask for help when needed
- while we can’t be everybody’s friend we can be friendly to all
- acknowledge each other and our accomplishments

Supportive and Corrective Discipline
In our class if these are not being met then the following will happen:
1. An acknowledgement of the behaviour that is occurring and discussion on how tis can be fixed.
2. If the behaviour continues then removal from the situation in the class for a time.
3. If the behaviour continues then removal from the class to the specified location (bench beside the class) where a discussion will take place on what the behaviour was that was occurring and what is needed to change that behaviour so that we are meeting our mission statement.
4. When all three steps have been attempted then meeting with school counselor will be set up to see if there are other plans that can be enacted.
